Dr. Kass’s Biography
Lawrence G. Kass, M.D.
Dr. Kass has treated tens of thousands of patients over his 35 years in practice in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the International Peeling Society, and a Fellow of both the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He completed fellowship training in Oculo-Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and directs the Tampa Bay Cosmetic Surgery Center.
Dr. Kass is nationally recognized as a pioneer in his field, having performed the Hetter Chemical Peel for facial rejuvenation for roughly 20 years, beginning shortly after its introduction. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the technique, and physicians from inside and outside the U.S. have visited his office to learn it firsthand. He also developed his own techniques for treating festoons (malar bags) and for Silikon 1000 microinjections, drawing patients from across the country. Dr. Kass is especially proud of the local-anesthesia techniques he has developed for advanced facial surgical procedures performed in-office.
Education
Dr. Kass was accepted into both the undergraduate program and the School of Medicine at Boston University based on his high school achievements, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa respectively.
After postgraduate training at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., Dr. Kass completed his residency at the University of South Florida, serving as Chief Resident and achieving the highest score on the Residency Examinations ever recorded at the institution.
He then completed a Fellowship in Oculo-Facial Plastic Surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital under the late Dr. Albert Hornblass, one of the most respected names in the field. Only about 20 physicians nationwide are accepted into approved fellowships of this kind each year.

Dr. Kass established his private practice in Pinellas County in 1986. As Director of the Tampa Bay Cosmetic Surgery Center, he continues to treat patients with facial, eyelid, lacrimal system, and orbital disorders. He is one of only a handful of Diplomates in Cosmetic Facial Surgery recognized by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in Florida, and maintains memberships in the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and the Florida Medical Association. He is a past president of the Tampa Bay Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Kass is nationally recognized as a pioneer in laser treatments and the Hetter chemical peel for facial rejuvenation, and remains active teaching younger physicians the art and science of cosmetic facial and plastic surgery.
